PestBase� is a Windows based (95, 98, 2000 or NT) user friendly software package that was developed for those who are interested in creating their own instant database. Pestbase� allows the user to import existing data and images from excel file. Field names can easily be changed using any languages as long as it is installed under your OS. A password ca be added to protect the database if it is installed for group user to allow permission to certain user(s) to modify the data and images. The database can be searched using various criteria and the use of operators such as "and", "or", "begin with", "equal to", "greater than", "less than", and "contains" makes the search option very flexible and efficient. Users can view images of insects and/or diseases along with descriptions of the pests, host plant, latin name, etc. There are no limitations to the number of entries that can be incorporated into a database. An unlimited number of images can be stored for each entry and several graphic formats including BMP, JPEG, GIF, TIFF, etc. can be used. The professional version of Pestbase� comes with the ability to make a personal database redistributable (e.g. a personalized logo can be added to the database and it can then be sold to third parties). PestBase� is very useful for insect and diseases inventory (fruit crops, vegetables, ornamentals, agronomic crops) and also can be used for identification of the pest and diseases. Two free database is included in both personal and professional version of PestBase.
